'A rare experience for those who would appreciate the opportunity of fine dining in the presence of greatness'
Nestling beneath the ramparts of Table Mountain, tucked away in a side street behind the famous Mount Nelson Hotel, lies The Leinster Hall Restaurant. The particularly fine teak facade sashes, internal folding shutters, winding staircase, fireplaces and old lath and plaster ceilings are typical of this fine 19th century house. Historic Leinster Hall has survived a series of reincarnations. Built in the 1850s, it metamorphosed from family home into restaurant; and later taken over by the Cape Town Club who's facilities are situated upstairs in the building.
The Victorian house has now come into its own, a gravitas to the graciously proportioned Nobel Laureate room hung with specially commissioned portraits of South Africa's Peace Prize winners. Apart from Chief Albert Luthuli, all are still alive and members of the club.
In this elevated dining ambience, tables are well-spaced and elegantly clad. Leinster Hall has facilities for corporate functions, a beautiful and picturesque setting for weekend Wedding Receptions and dinner. The Merriman Bistro and Cocktail bar and The Laureate Restaurant both have prestigious awards behind them. So come and take your taste buds on an upmarket dining experience at The Leinster Hall.
